Helen Cantrell

Helen Cantrell

Helen Cantrell is an award winning expressionistic painter whose vigorous oil paintings of landscapes and cityscapes are inspired by her travels on the road between Boston and New York City. Her rich mixtures of color, applied in blocks on the canvas create a sense of a densely layered surface reflecting the realities of the world we live in. Influenced by the works of Richard Diebenkorn, Cantrell is a resident of Old Lyme, CT, a village known for its artistic colony. She has garnered numerous solo shows throughout the northeast and can be found in private collections throughout the U.S. She has been featured in the New York Times among other publications.
